This is a Chicago-based intermodal driving position focused on efficient container movement with a strong emphasis on drop-and-hook freight and night operations. Drivers will operate in and around Chicago with routes extending into Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Iowa, while still returning home daily.
Pay & Earnings
- Base Pay: $0.62 per mile
- Load Pay: $20 per load
- Night Differential: +$0.06 per mile (Mon–Fri, 7PM–4AM)
- Weekend Differential: +$0.12 per mile (Fri 7PM – Mon 4AM)
- Average Weekly Earnings: $1,200 – $1,400
- Bonus: No bonus available
- Transition Bonus: Not offered
Additional pay may apply based on specific operational needs (case-by-case).
Schedule & Home Time
- Home Time: Daily (Home every day)
- Shift: Night driving
- Weekend Work: Required
- Holiday Work: Based on scheduled dispatch days
This role is built for drivers who prefer consistent night shifts with daily returns home.
Driver Requirements
- Must pass DOT physical and drug screen (including hair follicle)
- Valid Class A CDL
- Experience: First-seat experienced drivers only
- Clean MVR and PSP report (no major preventable accidents in last 3 years
- Ability to work night shifts consistently
- Must be comfortable with Chicago metro traffic and night operations
- Endorsements: Not required
Freight, Equipment & Duties
- Freight Type: Intermodal container freight
- Load Type: Drop-and-hook heavy (especially at night)
- Live Loads/Unloads: Occasional
- Equipment: Standard intermodal chassis operations
- Operational Note: Some out-of-state runs included, but still home daily
Drivers should be comfortable handling Chicago traffic conditions and night dispatch schedules.
